Although the Pretty Brow Club only opened its doors a few years ago, it’s made waves in the local Reading community since. Founder Isabelle Beatrice Rodgers started the beauty business in 2020 to give clients the ultimate glow-up for a fraction of the price of major salons. The studio specialises in authentic brow treatments with a touch of glam to make their clients look and feel their very best.
The studio is located just a short distance from the Reading town centre in Berkshire and offers a diversity of bespoke brow solutions, including lamination, maintenance, hybrid brows as well as tinting and waxing. As a proud Pink Hippo business customer, we recently checked in with Isabelle to find out how she turned her passion into a thriving brow business.
What inspired you to start your own brow business?
Since leaving school, I’ve looked into so many different careers and have done multiple courses to kick start my career but nothing stuck and I was at a complete standstill.
As soon as I came across semi-permanent makeup aesthetics and lathes, I was so inspired. I then found brows and it became my absolute passion. Since January 2020, I’ve been planning, saving and studying brow artistry to make it my career and take it as far as I can. I’ve also always wanted to run my own business, so owning a brow business is the perfect combination of the two!
Starting a new business is always tough, how did you manage to turn your passion project into a full-blown career?
I started saving and researching about owning a brow business before the first lockdown. This gave me the opportunity to find my passion for brows and the beauty industry, and it has been my priority ever since!
What are some key lessons you’ve learnt along the way?
- Patience is paramount
- You can only rely on yourself
- There’s no such thing as training or learning too much
- Always look for inspiration and never quit!
What are some personal challenges you’ve experienced in the beauty industry?
Getting too in my own head! It’s common to always want to do better and be better but it’s important to remind yourself that you are in a really good place and to keep growing at your own pace.
What does the Pretty Brow Club have that other beauty businesses don’t?
I am one of the only businesses in Reading that just specialise in brows. I have a very modern approach and am able to keep up with beauty standards and trends as they change.
How has Pink Hippo Self Storage helped your start-up grow?
It has given me the freedom to work as and when I want to and I can socialise with other businesses and get help and advice from them. Scott and Emma are also so supportive of all the small businesses using their facilities which makes it a positive place to be!
