Henley-on-Thames loop from Reading 

Another easy route, the Henley-on-Thames loop from Reading is less than 30 kilometres in distance and has a small elevation of 180 metres. Take your time cycling past beautiful historical buildings, across bridges, and stop along the water’s edge for a selfie! 

Cookham Bridge loop from Reading 

The 83.9-kilometre route from Reading is better suited for intermediate riders who want to push themselves to complete the distance. If you enjoy breaking a sweat while immersing yourself in nature, then the Cookham Bridge loop from Reading is a fantastic option. A decent level of fitness is required and some sections of the route may be unpaved and difficult to ride. 

Reading to Basingstoke 

The popular 37.8-kilometre route connects the riverside town of Reading to the bustling town of Basingstoke on the National Cycle Network (which runs from Hampshire to Berkshire). Largely traffic-free, the route goes past various points of interest including Stratfield Saye House and Wellington Country Park. Just make sure that you have someone pick you up at the endpoint or you’ll have to cycle back! 

Vale of White Horse 

Eager and experienced athletes will enjoy the cycle route from Reading up the hill in Vale of White Horse. You’ll be sure to break a sweat while riding the 45-kilometre route which has a climb of 330 metres – but the view makes it worth it!
